Commonwealth of Learning (COL) helps governments and institutions to expand the scale, efficiency and quality of learning by using new approaches, appropriate technologies, and open and distance learning (ODL) methodologies. Headquartered in Vancouver, COL promotes innovation and works with international partners to facilitate learning in support of development goals. It is financed by voluntary contributions from Commonwealth governments.

The Position:

COL is seeking an eminent open and distance learning (ODL) / ICT for development professional for the post of Vice President. The Vice President will assist the President in the effective management of the organisation and be responsible for:

i) strategic planning and reporting to a range of stakeholders;
ii) conceptualising, directing and implementing COL’s programme according to the principles of results-based management;
iii) supervising COL’s CEMCA (www.cemca.org) office in New Delhi, India;
iv) overseeing COL’s fee-for-service activities; and
v) fund-raising and resource generation.

Applicants should have a minimum of 15 years of experience as per above requirements in senior management position(s) in international settings. This position is based in Vancouver, Canada and requires a readiness to travel internationally.

This three-year initial appointment is renewable for a further term(s) by mutual agreement.

The person must: be a Commonwealth country citizen, with ability to network across multilateral organisations and to work effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds; have the ability to exercise professional judgment, diplomacy and be able to work in a team, while representing COL’s interest internally and externally.
