Temporary Manager, Global Citizenship Fellowship

The UNICEF Global Citizenship Fellowship (GCF) Temporary Manager unites and empowers American youth and volunteers in service on behalf of children around the world with the support of the Global Citizenship Fellows who serve as grassroots spokespersons for children and bring together networks of faith-based communities, schools, universities, volunteers, advocates, elected leaders and other Americans across the country to unite on behalf of children. The Global Citizenship Fellowship’s primary function is to support the core functions and goals of the organization’s strategic plan. The three main areas of the Global Citizenship Fellows’ work plan are outreach, partnership development, and grassroots program engagement for the following domestic initiatives: Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, UNICEF high school and college clubs, UNICEF Kid Power, UNICEF’s Next Generation, the End Trafficking campaign, advocacy initiatives, and other community mobilization activities. The temporary officer will support the Fellowship and directly manage at least four, but up to six, fellows.

Fellows work in the following locations: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C.

Position Summary

Reporting to the temporary Deputy Director of the Global Citizenship Fellowship, the Manager assists in the management of the Global Citizenship Fellowship including fellowship recruitment, selection, orientation, and training; managing relationships with regional office staff where fellows are placed; assist in the design and implementation of program monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, professional development, meetings, trainings, events and programmatic systems such as the Fellows’ Engagement Report and the GCF Alumni Engagement strategy. The officer has the primary responsibility for the day-to-day support and oversight of 6 fellows throughout the year as they execute grassroots education, advocacy and fundraising campaigns.

This full-time temporary assignment is based in New York City and is available from early May 2018 to November 16, 2018.

Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):

•Coordinate and execute fellows’ trainings and orientation activities

•Liaise with Regional Directors to deliver content and updates on the programs being implemented, partnerships being developed, and outreach to constituents

•Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, support, and troubleshooting for fellows

•Assists in tracking program metrics and touch points (Engagement Report)

•Collaborate with Director to evaluate current program communication and update systems with Community Engagement teams, regional offices and other key staff

•Assist in the stewardship and communication of Fellowship alumni network

•Identify/coordinate leadership development activities to provide the fellows with opportunities for professional growth
and development

•Support the team and the programs with administrative tasks as assigned

•Other duties as assigned, including the below: •Professional development trainings

•Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years or relevant work experience, preferably with nonprofit management or related field

•Demonstrated success managing, coaching, and/or supporting staff, interns or fellows required; experience managing remote teams a plus

•Demonstrated track record working on remote teams

•Previous volunteer or fellowship program experience preferred

•Direct partnership development, community organizing and/or fundraising experience a plus

•Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize while working under multiple deadlines

•Must be enthusiastic with a strong ability to self-motivate and oversee projects independently from concept to completion

•Must possess a strong work ethic, take initiative, and be an enthusiastic team player

•Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail a must

•Demonstrated interest in international development issues preferred

•Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekend and evening commitments, as well as business related travel

•Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook- 2010 preferred, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); social media networking skills/experience a plus
