Description

Are you interested in improving social services for marginalized children & youth, their families and their communities in Laos? Do you enjoy managing projects and building capacity of local teams? Then join us!

You will be joining the multi-disciplinary team of Friends-International (FI) comprised of over 600 professionals committed to creating innovative social service for youth, children and families worldwide.

What will you do?
You will be a representative of FI in Laos in the role of Technical Coordinator. You will work closely with the Country Program Director and the management team to provide technical support and build capacity of the local program. You will be the link between the head office in Phnom Penh and the local team in Vientiane and Luang Prabang. The team will expect support in the following areas:
• Program coordination and reporting in areas of Child Protection, Social Services, Education, Alternative Care and Employment
• Fundraising through grants applications and fostering and maintaining donor relationships

Your key responsibilities will include the following:
• Contribute to fundraising activities with inputs on log-frames, inclusive of keeping an eye on the funding needs and grants writing
• Manage country’s donor database and maintain good relations with existing donors and identify potential new donors together with the Development Partnerships team in Phnom Penh
• Support the team to use an accurate data collection system
• Ensure quality internal and external/donor reports are submitted in a timely manner
• Build capacity of the team in project management, budget management and monitoring and evaluation
• Support the admin/finance team to implement the Friends-International policies and procedures
• Attend, and co-represent Friends-International during regular stakeholder meetings with NGO partners, donors or businesses
• Facilitate/support research to better understand the needs of beneficiaries and advocate for improvement or adaptation of services to match those needs
• Contribute to improving program’s visibility and support communication of activities

About you:
• You are an experienced manager of projects that aim at improving lives of marginalized populations, with children in the focus
• You have exceptional communication and coordination skills, with experience in a multicultural work environment
• You are passionate about training, mentoring and coaching of local teams
• You have a dynamic personality and enjoy bringing hands-on solutions to the table
• You have good a understanding of Laotian NGO environment and its network
• You have solid knowledge of log-frames, project assessments, monitoring and evaluation systems
• You are able to produce good quality written project proposals and reports to donors
• You enjoy office work but also keen on spending time in the field monitoring and supporting the teams
• You have excellent computer skills, especially MS Excel
• Your knowledge about social businesses would be a plus!
• You have exceptional writing and speaking skills in English language
This is a full-time position based in Vientiane, Laos, with occasional travel in the region to visit projects, partners or donors. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and within FI salary scales.
