Description

This project will aim to address the unique situation of juveniles and their protection under international and European law in the context of counter-terrorism. It will address the importance and urgency for juvenile justice systems to apply diversion, alternatives and community-based measures in addition to– and, where possible, instead of– usual criminal justice responses in the treatment of radicalised juveniles. Moreover, due to the special situation of vulnerability and risk of being recruited in detention, it is essential to draw special attention to children deprived of liberty. The prevention of juvenile radicalisation in detention, as well as the need to design de-radicalisation and social inclusion programmes, will also be a component of this project.


Requirements
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience, out of which at least 3 years were practical experience working on evaluation of European projects;

• Solid knowledge and understanding of international human rights laws and standards on juvenile justice;

• Proven expertise in analysis and research in the area of radicalisation and counter-terrorism;

• Excellent drafting and oral communication ability; production of evaluations will be in English;

• We ask for a list of relevant publications.
